Dear Reader, Once with a Cowboy

OnceWithACowboy_AReDear Reader,

For the longest time I’ve wanted to do a book celebrating Loving Day. For me it isn’t just a celebration of the Lovings and their triumph against narrow minds and barriers meant to continue keeping people separate but a victory for love, for looking beyond what would hold us back or keep us apart and instead bring us closer together as a people through the beautiful, simple emotion of love.

With this story I wanted a hero who accepted the heroine even though she didn’t let him into all aspects of her life, didn’t tell him everything and yet he still wanted her—all of her. I also wanted a complicated heroine who had to learn via his love for her to accept the parts of her that she couldn’t accept herself, that she felt shame and guilt about. They both had their issues but the one thing that couldn’t be denied for them was love.

On a more personal note (inspired by my friend Amie Stuart), as a biracial child, growing up, I always felt other. People would ask to touch, play with or do my hair. They’d ask me the lovely question, “What are you?”. As a kid I didn’t really get how loaded that question was. Not, “Who are you?” but what. I struggled to find my place in the world for the longest time and it wasn’t until an episode of the anime Inuyasha –hey inspiration and epiphanies can come from anywhere—that I finally figured out that I didn’t need to belong to one side or the other, I could just be me, whoever that was.

In the episode he had to confront his half-demon, half-human status and was asked how he handled that and he said, “Not really a demon; not really human. I’m not either. That’s all. There was no place for me, so I had find one myself. And then I realized. I had a place, but I was the only one in it. I didn’t know any other way to live.” (Found on the InuYasha Wikiquote page).

I am the product of an interracial union. I love seeing interracial couples. People that look beyond ethnic backgrounds and find love despite what others may think. It matters so much to me, it’s one of the reasons why I write IR books and why I felt compelled to put together this collection. To celebrate love. I hope you enjoy the stories we have to offer you.

This Collection and story is a celebration of love in all its forms.

I NEED YOU FOR CHRISTMAS

Copyright © 2012 Leah Braemel

The glow from the slumbering embers shifted across the ceiling and into the corners of the dark room when Meg lifted herself up on one arm and peered over Ryan at the clock.

Five-thirty.

“Hey, what are you doing awake this early?” Ryan brushed her hair from her face.

“I’m used to getting up around now. Did I wake you?”

“Nah, I’ve not slept much.”

Could have fooled her, he’d been so still through the night. Though come to think of it, she hadn’t heard any of that soft snore he normally did.

“I couldn’t stop thinking. About you.” His voice deepened on the last statement. “Thinking about how I wanted to kiss you.”

“What stopped you?”

“I didn’t want to wake you.”

“So what’s stopping you now?” She turned until her lips touched his. Another deep drugging kiss, thoroughly ravishing her mouth, leaving no doubt that he was in charge. There was no hint of softness about him when he broke off the kiss and stared down at her.

“I love you.” Without waiting for a reply, he skated his lips down her cheek, peppering kisses down the length of her throat while his hands traced down her belly, over her hips and between the smooth skin of her thighs.

He knew just the spots that turned her muscles to goo beneath his fingers, his lips. Moans built in her throat, escaped in shuddering hitches. Her skin tingled everywhere he’d touched, small sparks that burrowed and heated her blood.

“Get on your hands and knees, Meg.” His tone reminded her of one of her instructors at the training academy.

Her blood heated, raced through her belly to pool at the juncture of her thighs. “Yes, sir.”

Heat flared in his expression. Approval of her whispered response, her immediate submission.

When she’d first met Ryan, she’d only just realized how much a guy taking charge in the bedroom was the key to her sexual satisfaction. It had been a pleasant and exciting surprise their first time making love that while he’d treated her with love and respect that he expected in return, he’d revealed an innate dominance.

It wasn’t that he was a capital-D dom, nor was he into all the master/slave crap she heard bandied about in the news, but he’d sensed without her asking that she needed someone else to take charge of closing the proverbial bedroom door to all her worries and concerns.

Once she became a Mountie, and she took the duty for other people’s lives in her hands, the trust she had in letting go and turning all her worries over to him became like a drug.

Warm breath heralded the first touch of his lips against her thigh. His fingers parted her folds, and seconds later, his tongue flicked out and feathered over her clit.

How she managed without his touch for so long was beyond comprehension. Everything was right in her world when she was in his arms. All her worries, her concerns, evaporated, instead replaced with a Ryan-induced euphoria.

Ava shifted from one foot to the other as the ache between her legs increased. She licked her lips and brushed loose strands of her hair behind her ears. Ava looked down as the heat in her face increased to become a prickling fire. She felt awkward and unkempt. Even though she hadn’t dressed up to meet him, she’d kept her style casual.

“Hey!” Brice put his bag on the ground, leaned down and wrapped his arms around her, picked her up, and held her close in a bear hug that sent her thoughts into disarray and set her body on fire. Through the thick padding of his jacket, she could feel his solid frame. Her hips bumped his, and there was definitely something happy to see her. She gave in and melted against him for a bit, allowing the cold on his clothes to cool some of her ardor. It didn’t work. Her father’s words came back to bite her. “Brice has got so much talent. I want him focused, and I want his head out of his ass. You’re no-nonsense. You can keep him on the straight and narrow, and with your…” Her thoughts stalled.

Crap.

She wriggled in his arms, but he only tightened his grasp and placed a kiss on her cheek. His beard scratched her skin, sending tendrils of arousal straight to her pussy. A giggle formed in her throat, but she refused to let it out. Her lips turned traitor and curled upward.

Her brain betrayed her, and she began to wonder if it felt this good on her cheek… No no no! she admonished herself. “Um, Brice, can you put me down? You’re cold.” Sad excuse, not even true. With her jacket on, she was warm. She felt like she’d stepped into a steam room. Her body heat spiked, and her clothes began to chafe her skin. The idea of stripping down to cool off was tempting, but she doubted that would help keep Brice in line. Or make a good impression with any of his neighbors.

“Oops, sorry.” He placed her on her feet with care, but he still had a smile on his sensual lips. “I’m so glad you’re here, and that it’s you and not someone else. You do remember me, right?” Worry clouded his green eyes. Tension radiated from his body, making her uneasy.

Melting Into You Blurb:

BLURB: Seth Mason’s life as a macaroni and cheese food truck owner in Austin, Texas, is pretty good, except for one thing: he’d like to find a man to share that life with. Excerpt:

She shifted in her seat and looked down at the counter. “Okay, deal. So are you too tired for…?” She wasn’t sure she wanted to finish that sentence.

“Say it, Ava,” Brice ordered.

Heat flared in her face and prickled along her ears. She licked her lips. “Um, are you too tired for what you promised me?”

Brice shook his head, and her heart sank. “Ava, be explicit. Tell me what you want.”

“Do you want to tie me down on the bed and use sex toys on me?” He hadn’t talked about vibrators and dildos, but she decided to throw that in there and see if he’d be put off. Brice had mentioned that he wanted to watch her masturbate, to see how she liked it, but this was putting her pleasure completely at his control.

The room grew hotter, and the fireplace wasn’t even on. She toyed with her phone. His gaze weighed on her, caressing the column of her neck, swirling around her breasts, and slipping down her stomach to whisper against her thickened labia. She could feel his fingertips ghosting over her flesh.

“Look at me, Ava.” Brice’s voice was deep, dark, hardened with command.

She met his gaze. “Yes?”

“I told you before you never have to feel ashamed with me over your desires and needs. You have to be honest with me and me with you. Now using sex toys on you—do you want me to use the ones I have, or do you want to use yours?”

He had sex toys? “Why would you have sex toys?”

He chuckled and replied, “I always wanted to be prepared in case I found a lover with my interests. If we came back here, which was rare, if ever, I’d be ready. Good enough explanation?” He moved around the counter.

She reached out and gave his hand a squeeze. “Yes, and thank you for not getting defensive with my asking.”

“Another Perry thing?” His eyes narrowed, and anger flared briefly before it disappeared to be replaced by an emotion she couldn’t identify.

She nodded. “Yes, but I want to move on from there, do things I was denied, and finally acknowledge and give in to my desires.”

He cupped her cheek and gave it a stroke before he stepped back. “Good. Just let me take a shower, okay? Marsh talked me into a workout while analyzing my games. I feel like I’ve pushed myself so hard that I’ll need some massage therapy tomorrow. Sex will help, though.” He gave her a kiss on her cheek, finished his slice, then went into the bathroom.

Anne Lange Sliding Into Home Character Interview

Hi! Welcome and thank you for taking the time to do this interview. Please tell us a bit about yourselves.

Jack: *turns to Devyn* Hey, babe. Why don’t you go first?

Devyn: Now you’re being all gentlemanlike? *rolls eyes.*   Hello Selena. Thank you for inviting us here today.  We really do appreciate it. It’s not that often we get to do this. It’s usually Anne. Let’s see. I’m a journalist/writer.  Or, at least I’m attempting to write. It’s been a dream of mine for a long time. Right now though, it’s just a hobby.  During the day I’m an editor for fashion magazine.  Other than that I spend my time tending to this guy’s every whim.

Jack: *snorts* don’t lie to the woman, Devyn.  Like I could get you to succumb to my every wish.  Hello, Selena. It’s a pleasure to meet you.   I used to play professional baseball, but I had to retire following an injury that took me out of the game way too early.  Now, I coach and teach at the high school level. I love working with the kids. It was always an interest of mine, and it keeps me involved in sports.

Jack, what convinced you to go on this blind date? You’re flying to Vegas for goodness sake!

Jack: Convinced? Try coerced.  Tricked. Blackmailed.

Devyn: Hey, it turned out okay for you.

Jack: *Jack smiles and takes her hand, kissing her knuckles.* Yes it did, sweetheart.  Actually, I lost a bet and my brother-in-law set the whole thing up.

Devyn, I so hear you don’t like going on blind dates. Friends think they know what’s good for you but you always end up disappointed. Why did you go along with this one?

Devyn: Because it was winter at home. The weather sucked and I really needed to get away. And they’re my friends. I know they were just looking out for me. But I didn’t expect what happened. I thought it was just a weekend with friends and I’d have dinner with this guy while I was there. I certainly had no idea they planned for Jack and I to share a suite.

Jack, I suspect that you pulled out every dirty trick in the book to get Devyn to stay. Can you give us a few hints on what you used that’s not in the book?

Jack: My good looks and my charm?

Heh. Devyn, you know this man and here he is walking back into your life. I’m sure you wanted to deck him but revenge can be oh so sweet, right? I’m sure you had a few aces up your sleeve to bring him to his knees. Want a share a few helpful hints on how to make him sweat?

Devyn: *smiles gleefully*  You could ask him about how he wears his underwear.

Well now! Vegas can be a fun and sexy place. Did you find a few nooks and crannies to help keep up the romantic and seductive mood?

Devyn:  Unfortunately, I…ah…*smiles sheepishly* I don’t really remember.  I wasn’t feeling all that well, and I was sort of…

Jack: drunk

Understandable, it is Vegas after all. Jack give us one word to describe how you felt upon seeing Devyn after all these years?

Jack: Stunned.

Awww, Devyn give us one word to describe why you would want Jack back after all these years?

Devyn: Love

*Grins* Okay, Jack, what advice do you have for readers on how to keep up the sexy in their lives?

Jack:  Make it fun and spontaneous. Do wild things. Try getting married in Vegas…right, babe?

Devyn, Jack looks like trouble, what advice do you have to make sure he behaves? Or doesn’t?

Devyn: Behaving is not an option, I’m afraid. That’s too boring, and Jack is not meant to be boring. Don’t get me wrong, he can be serious and professional when it’s called for. But I have to admit, I like him better when he’s just being himself.  He’s actually very sweet and caring, and that’s probably why I stuck around when all my instincts told me to go throttle my friends for setting us up.

Okay, give me the pitch, why should readers check out your story and where can they find it? Maybe give us a sexy snippet too, please?

Jack: Well, Anne’s tag line is

Can an injured ex ball player convince the woman he wakes up married to in Las Vegas to take a second chance on him?

But seriously, it’s fun. Vegas is fun – it’s called Sin City for a reason. Anne doesn’t go into our whole life story, so it’s a short novel that’s a quick read. At the heart it’s a reunion story and we all love a happily ever after don’t we?

Devyn: Wow, aren’t we sappy all of a sudden.

It’s available everywhere, from the publisher – Totally Bound Publishing, at Kobo, Amazon, B&N (I think) and All Romance Ebooks

As for a sexy snippet?  Okay, here you go.

“Still hungry?”

More than he could know.

Maybe they shouldn’t take this further. The thought of where this was going frightened her. The feelings he’d dredged up scared the bejeezus out of her. The mere idea of their marriage planted all kinds of seeds in her brain—and in her heart—of a happily ever after with the one person she’d always wanted. It was like throwing gasoline on a fire. She knew, without a doubt, that if they continued this game, she’d be begging him to take her, to further bind her to him so that no other man, or judge, could come between them, and declare them not husband and wife.

Passion wasn’t the problem. Commitment was.

“You didn’t answer my question.”

She dropped her gaze to her lap. With her right hand, she clutched the stem of her champagne flute—her knuckles white. The left she clenched in a fist on her thigh. She relaxed her fist and raised her head to stare him in the eye. “I want you to make love to me, Jack,” she whispered.

Then I’ll figure out how the hell to walk out of the door.

He nodded, once, and reached to remove the glass from her grip. He placed it on the table then removed the dessert from between them, setting it aside also.

Without a word, he reached out to undo the buttons on her blouse. She watched as, with slow precision, he pushed each button through the holes until her shirt gaped open. He sucked air through his teeth, releasing it in a slow exhale. Covered in a light pink push-up bra, the tops of her breasts were plumped up, her nipples hard beneath the silky material. He pushed the garment from her shoulders. With a little help, it fell from her arms to land in a heap at her feet. His chest rose and fell with each breath. Then he reached around her back to unclasp and remove her bra.

“You know. I’d bet your breasts would taste delicious smeared with sorbet.”

Excerpt 2 (X-rated)

A New League – Book 1
© 2014 Anne Lange

She felt no pain. Not the physical kind anyway. Here she sat, in an exquisite hotel suite, in Las Vegas, with… Jack. The boy who had left her. But he didn’t resemble a boy anymore. Oh, no. He looked like a man who could do all sorts of naughty things to make her feel wonderful. And no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t make the naughty suggestions disappear, so she’d given up about two glasses of wine ago, after he’d announced his intentions.
She pictured herself swinging on a pendulum. She swayed to one side and was reminded of the day he’d left. Wasn’t she worth sticking around for, or at least coming home for? Then she swung the other way and focused on the opportunity in front of her. He’s so fucking sexy. And he’s available. And what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Right? It’s not like it’s forever.
She was getting dizzy. She must be going insane if she was even considering it.

Her nipples stood on alert. Her pussy pulsed. Must be the wine. Her friends had brought her to Las Vegas to have sex. But sex with Jack? A mistake? Oh, yeah. She squirmed on the couch, and with as much nonchalance as possible rubbed her arm over her nipples. She suppressed a groan. Okay, maybe a little bit of pain. The kind only a good hard round of sex could relieve.
Devyn glanced up from where she’d settled into the overstuffed couch after they’d moved back into the suite. She watched Jack, but didn’t really see him as he moved about the room. Instead, she pictured him bending her over the arm of the sofa, while the kaleidoscope of colors from the Strip played across the darkened room. In her daydream, he slipped inside her, his cock rigid, thick, hot—stretching her wide, to the pleasurable edge of painful. He paused to place tender kisses down her spine, before pulling back and plunging hard and fast back into her body—relentless in his endeavor to hear her scream his name.
In her mind, she begged him, repeatedly, to make her come.
“Dev, did you say something?”
Startled, she blinked and looked up at his question. “Ah, no.”

Shoes are her addiction, but books are her passion.  Anne Lange grew up with a love for reading. If you take a close look, she’s got either a book, her Kindle or her Kobo—maybe all three—tucked into her bag or a pocket when she leaves the house. You know, just in case there’s time to sneak in a chapter or ten.  Anne reads many genres of romance, but prefers to write sexy stories, often with a dash of humor, and usually with a side of those sinful pleasures your mom never told you about.

Oh, and always a happily ever after.

While embarking on this wild journey of becoming a romance author, Anne juggles a full time job and a family. Not always successfully. Who needs a clean house every day?  And what’s wrong with cereal for dinner? She lives in Ontario, Canada with her wonderfully supportive husband, three awesome kids who are growing up way too fast, and Rocky the bearded dragon.

(Watch Me) Break You

Run This Town, BK #1

They’re in a war for control of the streets, but love will be the ultimate prize.

rsz_watchmebreakyou_4_-_copyHere comes trouble…

Men. Women. Drugs. Dima Zhirkov’s favorite things. Add in the element of danger and he should be right as rain. But not today. It’s not working, hasn’t for a long time. He’s grasping at the flimsiest of straws to prove he’s indeed strong enough to run his streets. Until he sets eyes on him. In the midst of a room full of strangers, Dima is drawn to a man as cold and dangerous as he’s beautiful. Captivated, Dima embarks on a ruthless campaign to get his new toy into bed.

Here comes the danger…

Xavier “X” Storm is content to pull the strings while someone else handles the day to day dealings of his gang, The Rude Boys. He’s after what Dima holds closest—the Coney Island streets. He contracts out the job of killing the Russian, except Dima isn’t that easy to kill. When he suddenly shows up in X’s path, tempting him to indulge in the dirtiest play, he finds Dima isn’t all that easy to shake, either. His cocky attitude and rough submission tempts X to go where he’d vowed to never return, and they plunge head first into an affair fueled by possessive obsession.

Run for cover

Sex and pain Dima can handle, and X delivers the most depraved kind. Their connection is explosive, their games addictive, but Dima can end it whenever he wishes. He doesn’t see that X is breaking him down, giving Dima everything he wants and even more than he ever thought to need. By the time he realizes who X is and what he wants, Dima is raw and bullet-riddled. It’s run or fight. And Dima doesn’t back down. Neither does X.

Warning: Includes strong BDSM elements, and reference to rape and sexual abuse.

EXCERPT

“This little game that we play…” He paused when his throat burned.

“Is it, Rush? Is it a game?”

Down on his knees, Dima looked up and up into fathomless eyes. They trapped him enough that he forgot to bristle at that stupid nickname. Rush. Because he was Russian.

The pad of one finger touched his throat, slid down. He swallowed, but he had no saliva. He blinked to clear the haze over his eyes.

“Is it a game, this, what we do? This is how you play?”

Of course it was. He liked his toys. His drinks. His drugs. His women. His men too. Like the one who had him on his knees. This was Dima. The crazy little games that he played. He could leave at any time. Tied up as he was he couldn’t move except to flick a glance at the door flung wide open for anyone to see him beg to be used. But he could leave. End it. Because that’s what he did. He played. And then he walked away.

“Your game.” The hand in his hair moved then reappeared in front of his face holding another length of rope. “This is your game. You stalking me, begging me…”

Dima didn’t beg, not unless he was on his knees. He didn’t remember begging.

“You always in my fucking shadow making it impossible for me to do anything, cock blocking. That’s your game? The woman you just saw me with. The one you would’ve hurt if I hadn’t rescued her. All part of your game?”

She’d needed to be hurt. No one used his toys without permission. He’d stood in the shadows and watched her touch his toy, put her red lips to his ear and her long-nailed hands on his thigh, and Dima had salivated at the thought of gutting her. For touching what was his. He’d gotten hard as he’d thought of it.

Hot breath brushed his neck. Made him shudder. Usually he had better control when he played his games. Usually his toys didn’t affect him. Usually he didn’t pursue his toys either. This one was tough to catch. Impossible to pin down. It exhilarated him, that cat and mouse game.

“If I’d fucked her while you watched, would that have been part of the game?”

Something thudded in his chest. He swallowed again. Fire burned his throat. His head pounded as a flash of heat made him sweat. Anger. Not just any anger. Jealous anger. His lips parted and his toy swooped in, took him. His mouth. His tongue. His mind. And Dima started to pant because that wasn’t part of the game. Not his game. To be taken over. To be made to feel more than the superficial pain on his skin. He tried to stop the kiss, turn his head, but his toy caught him by the throat, fingers tight, pressing in, stealing breath he didn’t seem to want to give back.

“Watch me,” his toy whispered. Sadistic. Eyes so black Dima didn’t see the whites. He looped the rope around Dima’s neck. Tightened it. “Let’s play then, Rush.” He pulled the rope. “And watch me.”

Dima did.
