I Don’t Have a Fetish! – Tilly Greene
Today’s topic is all about fetish. I actually am very glad that Tilly has taken on this topic. Many people associate BDSM with everything fetish when it’s not necessarily the case. Even better, she does a fantastic job discussing the topic where I kind of fumble around it. I’m so grateful for her being here to do this for me. Thank you from the bottom of my black leather knee high boots! Now let’s get to Tilly’s wonderful article, “I Don’t have a Fetish!”
Clinically speaking, a fetish is grounded in a recurring intensely passionate response in a person to an object, giving the item almost a magical power of their fantasies, and ultimately offers them sexual satisfaction. However, in today?s terms, unless you?re under the care of a psychologist, your fetish is that thing that arouses you sexually. Most often the fetish is for inanimate thing, although some may have a very necessary human quality. For instance, someone may have a strong sexual response to ladies lingerie no matter where they are seen [in a magazine, in person, or on a mannequin], while another will have just as strong a reaction to holding a bra.
Okay, let?s step away from defining our desire and putting our turn-on?s into tidy labeled boxes, and look at what sparks people?s sexuality to seriously burn.
According to British newspaper, The Independent, the most common sexual preference for body parts was feet and toes and not the ear, neck or nails. Confused now, aren?t you? Well, it isn?t simply the feet that will cause excitement, but their appearance has a part to play. While a woman may like to give herself a boost with a pedicure, it is often what they?re wearing that catches another?s attention. Stilettos, sandals, pumps, boots, all get the sexual juices flowing. Other items on the top turn-on?s list had something to do with dressing oneself. Costumes, jackets, hats, accessories filled out the top of the list which makes since when you think about role-playing in the bedroom.
That was the researchers take on the subject, but what?s actually being sold. Take a minute and think about your local sex shop or one you visit online. They?re in business to make money and will therefore carry what people are buying. The costumes mentioned above are there, but with a twist. Cheerleader, nurse, teacher and military pieces and others are present amongst the cat suits and corsets and they?re made out of latex, leather, rubber and vinyl. The tactile qualities of these fabrics are as much a turn on as the way they act like a second skin is for others. A third aspect which comes from the second skin idea is how the wearer feels bound in the very tight clothes, something that would also appeal to the BDSM crowd.
It?s time for the men to have a say, kind of. In the Top 10 Fetishes by Vanessa Burton on AskMen.com, the number one fetish was duet, Voyeurism and Exhibitionism. Watching was mainly the guys? thing, but quite a few women liked being watched while in an intimate position. These two often connected while resting at different ends of the same visual stimuli aren?t always about sex. Sometimes the undressing is exciting and as personal as intercourse. However, what needs to be remembered about voyeurs and exhibitionists is that anonymity plays a big role in their path to gratification.
There you have it. Physical, tactile and visual fetishes looked at from three different viewpoints and hopefully it took some of the ?I don?t have a fetish? out of the equation. Basically, if you are really aroused by that thing, have fun with it because you aren?t alone or all that different in what gets you off. Remember, the goal for a fetish is sexual gratification, and who doesn?t want that.

Great week, Cyn and thank you for the kind opening words
It was an interesting topic to delve into and get beyond the clinical studies about those people who take it to the extreme. The oddity is, an average Joe or Jane would cringe and shy away from talking about a sexual fetish, but there was no such problem around the water cooler discussing Carrie Bradshaw’s [Sex in the City] thing for shoes – wasn’t that a fetish? [http://bit.ly/9fjqdS]
No, BDSM is not all about fetishes, just like Sex in the City had more than a thing for shoes going on.
I have a few such fetishes… business suits. Nice, high quality, men’s business suits. Belts. Leather belts. And, I can’t discuss my other…fetishes. But, looking at a man in a really nice suit and I does things to my insides that I can’t describe. Smelling, feeling, touching the leather of belt…and I go all melty. Both of those things, those outward things do something to me, for me, provoking mental and physical responses.
I have a thing for a particular voice that can just… And then there’s the…
Wonderful topic…

I like this. Bookmarked!
I have a couple of things that are close to being fetishes. A man in a tuxedo. *shudders* It’s like the most orgasmic thing in the world. Seriously. It’s a piece of clothing I’ve rarely seen anyone look bad in and it just makes me quiver with a need to slowly peel off each layer, enjoying the lush fabric as I do so. *sigh*
Testing.
A belt, a man wearing a tuxedo, or in my case a pair of well-worn jeans, it’s interesting what a big role clothes play with our libidos. I think I’m going to pay more attention to what people are wearing next time I’m out people watching. I imagine someone would walk different knowing their mate is seriously turned on by what their wearing.
I’m glad you’re enjoying it, annauire, maybe next time you’re reading a BDSM you’ll enjoy it even more because you’ll know and understand “stuff”
mmm mine is a man in snug (not too tight so it sqashes the boys) jeans with a tight t-shirt or topless. I get that ooey-gooey feeling inside and get all warm. *grins*
